The 2015 Dunster Show
With a break in the weather, last Friday saw yet another successful Dunster show, the 169th! An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed an action packed day out. Jamie Sqibb gave an enthrawling motorbike display, thrilling the crowd yet again with his daredevil acrobatics on his bike, the crowd were packed around the arena. Ricky Maloney was inspirational with the relaxed way in which he effortlessly controlled his working dogs. Michael Davie’s birds of prey swooped over the crowds in the main ring, after racing with the children to catch the rabbit. The magnificent parade of hounds dominated the main ring at lunch time with 4 main packs, the crowds where welcomed into the ring to meet the hounds and huntsman, always a popular event. The horses then took centre stage with the parade and supreme championship after the hounds and lunch.Record breaking sheep entries and excellent cattle entries gave for a magnificent parade later in the afternoon in the main ring.
The food hall was an even greater hit this year, with a range of local producers showing their goods. That was not all, the grounds where full with trade stands, from automotive to second hand books. Rural crafts, the fun fair, the free circus, ferret racing and the village green with the bar, food outlets and entertainment, made it all a day to remember, put 19 August in your diary for 2016 and come and celebrate the 170th show.
